Small apps, built in the open, one stage at a time.

John Hubert LLC is a small independent studio in Virginia. This is where our projects live as they grow from idea to something you can install. Try what's ready, see what's next, and read the guides we write along the way.

Projects

Every project moves through the same stages: concept, prototype, testing, live.

Vitamin Village

Prototype

Offline-first kids' app about vitamins: ten characters, 141 foods, 34 recipes, badges to earn. No accounts, no tracking.

VCA

Prototype

Video calls for small groups, up to ten people, with a shared Notes, Code, and Whiteboard workspace that everyone can edit at the same time.

visual-math

Concept

A visualization-first way to learn university math, from trigonometry through calculus and linear algebra to the math behind physics. Every idea taught by interacting with the picture.

About

Who is behind this site.

John Hubert LLC is an independent software studio registered in the Commonwealth of Virginia. We build small, focused applications, with a particular interest in tools for learning and in software that respects the people who use it: our apps work offline where they can, collect nothing they don't need, and never sell data.

Current work includes Vitamin Village, a nutrition game for children; VCA, group video calling with a shared workspace; and visual-math, a visualization-first approach to university mathematics. Everything here moves through the same stages, from concept to prototype to testing to live, and we say plainly which stage each project is at.
